Interview: Phyllis Harris

Phyllis Harris is the Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Ms. Harris leads an interdisciplinary team of compliance professionals who identify, mitigate, and monitor the operational compliance risks for domestic business divisions. Previously, she served as Wal-Mart’s Vice President for Environmental Health and Safety Compliance and was responsible for developing and overseeing environmental compliance programs.

Prior to Wal-Mart, Ms. Harris served as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., where she was responsible for leading the nation’s environmental enforcement and compliance assurance programs. In 2001, Ms. Harris was the recipient of the Presidential Rank Award by President George W. Bush for sustained leadership and performance.
