NEW SURVEY WILL SUPPLY LAW FIRM DIVERSITY BENCHMARKS
Unlike with most other solos, Stephanie Kimbro's law office isn't on Main Street-it's exclusively on the Internet. Residing just a mouse click away from clients at Kimbrolaw.com, Kimbro Legal Services, LLC, is a completely Web-based virtual law office. In April, the Wilmington, North Carolina, solo practitioner was awarded the LPM Section's 2009 James I. Keane Memorial Award for Excellence in eLawyering.
PricewaterhouseCoopers is now conducting the 2009 Law Firm Cultural Awareness & Inclusion Survey (CAIS). The survey, developed with assistance from the ABA LPM Section’s Diversity Task Force, will explore the rich diversity found within law firms and provide benchmarks to help firms evaluate their diversity efforts. The survey’s first section covers gender and minority statistics for law firm timekeepers in areas such as headcount ratios, utilization, revenue, promotion and turnover. Section two looks at firmwide diversity efforts in areas such as leadership, programs, recruitment, retention and promotion, and client management. Participation is anonymous and results are confidential, intended for the internal business management of participating firms to support internal benchmarking and decision making. The deadline for receiving completed data forms is May 29, 2009. There is a fee to participate. If your firm would like to participate, contact the PwC Survey Team at (703) 918-3077.
