News From the Law Practice

Each year at this time, the ABA and the LPM Section celebrate our successes, just as our member lawyers celebrate with their clients and reflect on how they can provide even better service in the coming year. In 2008, LPM continued its leading-edge publishing and programming and also addressed current hot topics, including the impact of the economic downturn and the still-evolving world of electronic evidence and discovery. Thank you for the opportunity to serve your needs as a Section member this past year. In the coming year, get involved or let us know how we can help you succeed, and we will continue to address those areas of highest interest to our membership.

Highlights from Tucson.
Almost 300 legal professionals attended theLPM Fall Meeting and the sold-out ABA Women Rainmakers Mid-Career Workshop, held in October in Tucson, Arizona. Among the highlights were a presentation from Professor Myles Lynk on race, politics and the practice of law, and networking and business development programs for a diverse assembly of women lawyers. Selected materials from both the meetings and the workshop are now available on the Section Web site.

Third Thursday teleconferences: Ethics and Documenting the Client Relationship.
At this time of year, most firms take steps to recognize and appreciate their existing and prospective client relationships. But recognizing and integrating client and firm expectations is a year-round professional responsibility. So LPM continues its popular CLE audio teleconference series in December with Ethics and Documenting the Client Relationship, on Thursday, December 18. Secure your ethics CLE credits before year-end with this timely seminar.

Then in January, LPM will present a preview of the hot legal technology topics to be addressed at ABA TECHSHOW® 2009. From the new E-Discovery Boot Camp to the popular Solo/Small Firm Day, ABA TECHSHOW delivers a full array of CLE and other educational programming.
