LPM Section News & Events
What's new in publications and events for LPM Members.
By Larry C. Smith
As most Law Practice Management Section members have learned, "law practice management" is not limited to those with specifically defined roles in a firm, such as "managing partner" or "firm administrator."
Every legal professional, lawyer and nonlawyer alike, plays a part in the management—and ultimate success— of a law practice. With several new publications and program initiatives in the works, LPM continues to lead the way in providing practical assistance for your firm's or organization's everyday efforts in marketing, management, technology, finance and other aspects of improving the effectiveness of your practice and its service to clients.
Successful Midyear Meeting. In February, the LPM Section hosted educational programs, networking events and planning meetings at the ABA Midyear Meeting in Miami. Law Marketing Day at ABA Midyear featured three educational sessions on business development, and the ABA Women Rainmakers held its popular networking reception, open to all ABA Midyear attendees.
New LPM technology Webzine. The Section recently launched Law Technology Today , its new Webzine focusing on law practice technology issues. Many subscribers of the popular Law Practice Today Webzine have taken the opportunity to receive a free subscription to this new monthly publication. Both LPM members and nonmembers can subscribe to Law Technology Today by clicking here.

More convenient CLE opportunities. Throughout the year, LPM continues its popular monthly CLE teleconference series, with substantial discounts on registration fees for Section members. On the third Thursday of each month, LPM presents a CLE teleconference, where you can participate from the comfort of your own office. Be sure to register now at www.lawpractice.org/cle for this month's program, Structuring a Retirement Program for Senior Lawyers. The program takes place Thursday, March 15, from 1–2:30 p.m. ET. Speakers will explore how law firms can help their senior lawyers learn new skills and competencies as they reduce their practice commitments, enabling them to contribute extended value to clients and the firm in new ways, while minimizing the costs to clients and the firm and ensuring a smooth transition for the clients.
