Don't take this personally, but the odds are good that technology's got you, whether you like it or not. I know, there are those of us who love it. The click of the keys, the glow of the monitor, the voluptuous slide of the blue bar as you watch fresh e-mails fall into your mailbox, the comfort of a brand-new BlackBerry in your jacket pocket.

But there are others (perhaps the majority?) who resent the nagging 24-7 presence of the next 65 ways to be reminded of obligations. To many, new software means just another way to be confused and overwhelmed. The "support line" is more often a source of frustration than relief. CRMs seem designed for obfuscation. Our e-mail boxes are stuffed to the gills with spam. And all those road-warrior-friendly devices? They present a whole new world of not-so-friendly issues.

We practically have to take technology personally because it goes with us everywhere and affects nearly every aspect of our lives. So Law Practice decided to get up close by looking both at how our readers feel about the technology in their lives and how some of the problems high-tech presents can be resolved.
