On 6/8/10, the Administration for Children and Families, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced a request for public comment on a new information collection, the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Emergency Fund Subsidized Employment Report Form, which will collect information from jurisdictions regarding the number of individuals in subsidized employment funded in whole or in part by the TANF Emergency Fund or included in the calculation of a TANF Emergency Fund award. On 6/2/10, the president issued a memorandum to the heads of executive departments and agencies stating several specific immediate actions, consistent with existing law, that should be taken to extend benefits to the same-sex domestic partners of federal employees, and, where applicable, to the children of same-sex domestic partners of federal employees. On 6/7/10, the Senate confirmed, by a unanimous vote of 90 yeas, the nominations of Audrey Goldstein Fleissig, of Missouri, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, and Lucy Haeran Koh, of California, to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of California; and by voice vote, the nomination of Tanya Walton Pratt, of Indiana, to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Indiana.
On 6/8/10, the Administration on Aging, HHS, announced the invitation of applications for Affordable Care Act Medicare Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance Program funding for Title VI Native American programs. The funding will be awarded to groups that inform and assist eligible Native American elders about the benefits available to them through Medicare Part D, the Low Income Subsidy, the Medicare Savings Program, or Medicare prevention benefits and screenings. On 6/1/10, the president issued a memorandum assigning the secretary of Health and Human Services the functions of the president to appoint commissioned officers of the Ready Reserve Corps. FR 32245
On 6/8/10, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a 6/23/10 meeting in Arlington, VA, of the Human Studies Review Board to advise the Agency on EPA’s scientific and ethical reviews of research with human subjects. FR 32461
On 6/8/10, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), HHS, announced a request for public comment on a proposed extension of a currently approved information collection, the Premarket Approval of Medical Devices, which is completed by persons filing a premarket approval application (PMA) or a PMA supplement with FDA for approval of certain class III medical devices. On 6/8/10, HHS announced a 6/30/10 meeting of the Health Information Technology Standards Committee in Washington, DC, to invite public input on its 4/28/10 recommendations on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information. On 6/8/10, the Department of State announced a 6/21/10 meeting in Washington, DC, of the Advisory Committee on International Law to discuss a range of issues, including the International Criminal Court review conference and ad hoc international criminal tribunals; the law of war regarding detention, targeting, and prosecution; and the International Law Commission. S 3461 ( Vitter, R-LA), to create a fair and efficient system to resolve claims of victims for economic injury caused by the Deepwater Horizon incident, and to direct the secretary of the Interior to renegotiate the terms of the lease known as “Mississippi Canyon 252” with respect to claims relating to the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill that exceed existing applicable economic liability limitations; to Judiciary. On 6/8/10, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Homeland Security, announced a final rule identifying communities, where the sale of flood insurance has been authorized under the National Flood Insurance Program, that are scheduled for suspension on the effective dates listed within the rule because of noncompliance with the floodplain management requirements of the program. On 6/8/10, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced a request for public comment on a proposed extension of a currently approved information collection, the Veterans Application for Assistance in Acquiring Special Housing Adaptations Form, which is completed by disabled veterans to apply for special housing or modification to their current dwellings.
