On 11/12/09, the Commission on Civil Rights announced an 11/20/09 meeting in Washington, DC, to hear an update on the status of the 2010 Enforcement Report, to approve concept papers for fiscal year 2010 briefing topics, to hear amendments to the Title IX Briefing Report, and for other matters. On 11/12/09, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security, announced a request for public comment on a submitted information collection, the Affidavit of Support, which is used to determine if an application for an immigrant benefit will become a public charge if admitted to the United States. Comments are due 1/11/09. FR 58302.  
On 11/12/09, the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, Department of Education, announced a request for public comment on a proposed priority under the Capacity Building Program for Traditionally Underserved Populations to fund a grant that will establish a training and technical assistance center to support the projects funded under the American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program. Comments are due 12/14/09. FR 58260.
On 11/12/09, the Office of Native American Programs, Department of Housing and Urban Development, announced the names and addresses of award recipients under the Indian Community Development Block Grant Program, which provides grants to Indian tribes and Alaska Native villages to develop viable Indian and Alaska Native communities, including the creation of decent housing, suitable living environments, and economic opportunities primarily for persons with low and moderate incomes. On 11/12/09, the Bureau of Indian Education, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Department of the Interior, announced an 11/16/09-11/17/09 meeting in Miami, FL, of the Advisory Board for Exceptional Children to discuss advisory board ethics training and advisory board priority team reports, to hear public comments, and for other matters. On 11/12/09, BIA, Department of the Interior, announced several meetings from 11/30/09-1/26/10 in Alaska, California, Minnesota and Oklahoma to consult with Indian tribes reorganized under the Indian Reorganization Act and the Oklahoma Indian Welfare Act, and with other interested tribal leaders concerning the potential revision of regulations regarding tribal reorganization. On 11/9/09, the president issued a proclamation declaring 11/9/09 “World Freedom Day,” and calling upon the people of the United States to observe the day in fellowship with other nations and people of the world with appropriate ceremonies and activities, and to reaffirm their dedication to freedom and democracy. On 11/12/09, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training, Department of Labor, announced a 12/2/09 meeting in Washington, DC, of the Advisory Committee on Veterans’ Employment, Training and Employer Outreach to discuss programs to assist veterans seeking employment and to raise employer awareness as to the advantages of hiring veterans, with special emphasis on employer outreach and wounded and injured veterans.
