On 7/9/09, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced a request for public comment on a proposed project, the program evaluation of the Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response, which aims to strengthen terrorism and emergency preparedness by bringing together colleges and universities with a common focus on public health preparedness to establish a national network of education and training resources. On 7/8/09, the Senate continued consideration of HR 2892, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, and adopted an amendment to make the piolot program for employment eligibility confirmation for aliens permanent and to improve verification of immigration status of employees, as well as an amendment to require the completion of at least 700 miles of reinforced fencing along the southwest border by 12/31/10.
On 7/9/09, the Copyright Office of the Library of Congress announced the publication of a final rule establishing adjusted fees for its services, recovering a significant part of the costs to the office of registering claims and providing full cost recovery for many other services provided by the office which benefit only or primarily the user of that service.
