Criminal Law
On 12/1/08, the Bureau of Justice Statistics, Department of Justice (DOJ), announced an information collection request of the clinical indicators of sexual violence in custody. Comments are due 12/31/08. FR 72838.
On 12/1/08, the Office of Justice Programs, DOJ, announced an information collection request on the methodological research to support the redesign of the National Crime Victimization Survey. Comments are due 1/30/09. FR 72840.
Domestic Violence
On 11/28/08, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced an interim rule, effective 12/29/08, to conform HUD’s regulations to the self-implementing provisions of the statutory protections provided by the Violence Against Women Act. FR 72336.
Disability Law  
On 12/1/08, the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, Department of Education, issued final regulations, effective 12/31/08, governing the Assistance to States for Education of Children with Disabilities Program and the Preschool Grants for Children with Disabilities Program, in the areas of parental consent, non-attorney representation in due process hearings, state monitoring and allocation of funds. On 12/2/08, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced the opportunity for public comment on a proposed data collection project to asses the acceptability of a potential biomedical intervention for the prevention of HIV acquisition.
