H Res. 944 ( Poe, R-TX), supporting the goals and ideals of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that Congress should raise awareness of domestic violence in the United States and its devastating effects on families and communities. On 7/25/06, the Senate passed, by a vote of 65-34, S 403, to amend Title 18, United States Code, to prohibit taking minors across state lines in circumvention of laws requiring the involvement of parents in abortion decisions.
On 7/25/06, the House passed HR 4472, to protect children from sexual exploitation and violent crime, to prevent child abuse and child pornography, to promote Internet safety, and to honor the memory of Adam Walsh and other child crime victims, clearing the measure for the President.

On 7/24/06, the President signed HR 42 (P.L. 109-243), to ensure that the right of an individual to display a flag of the United States on a residential property not be abridged.

On 7/25/06, the Senate confirmed, by a 67-30 vote, the nomination of Jerome A. Holmes, of Oklahoma, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Tenth Circuit.

HR 5882 ( Pallone, D-NJ), to amend Title XIX of the Social Security Act to increase the minimum federal medical assistance percentage under the Medicaid program for states to 53 percent; to Energy and Commerce. H5853, CR 7/25/06.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a confirmation hearing on the nomination of Mark R. Dybul to be coordinator of U.S. activities to combat HIV/AIDS globally. 7/31/06, 3 pm, 419 Dirksen.
