Shipping & Tracking Your Order

Shipping

ABA shipping policy outlines the following details for order processing and shipping:

  • Domestic Ground Orders (USA):
    • Orders placed by 12 PM ET will ship out on the same business day.
    • Orders placed after 12 PM ET will ship out on the next business day.
  • International Orders:
    • Orders placed by 4 PM ET will ship out on the same day.
  • Canadian Ground Orders:
    • Orders placed by 4 PM ET will ship out the same day via UPS Canadian Standard Service.
  • Expedited Shipping:
    • UPS Next Day, 2nd Day, and Canadian Expedited rush delivery options are available for an additional charge.

The ABA does not ship to P.O. Box addresses.

All orders placed after 4 PM ET will be processed the following business day.

Rush orders must be placed by 2 PM ET to go out the same business day. Same-day rush shipping offers are only available on products produced and distributed by the ABA.

Tracking Your Order

You can track your order status online through your My ABA profile:

  1. Log in to My ABA.
  2. Select Order History from the navigation bar.

Product Returns

Individuals may return any item within 45 days of the order ship date. You'll receive full credit for returned inventoried products, less the shipping and handling cost, which is not refundable.

Return Policies

For Individuals

  • Product Condition: Returned items must be clean, unmarked, unaltered, and in re-saleable condition
  • Timeframe: Postmarked within 45 days of the order shipment date found on your packing slip

For Retail Stores

  • Product Condition: Overstock returns must be clean, unmarked, unaltered, and in re-saleable condition
  • Timeframe: Six months from invoice date

Damaged Products

If there is a problem with your order or you received damaged material, contact the ABA Service Center.

  • Individuals: Return the damaged product postmarked within 45 days of the order shipment date
  • Retail Stores: Claims for damaged or short shipments must be made within 30 days of invoice date

Product Return Addresses

Your order may contain products shipped from multiple warehouses. When returning a product, please include a copy of the original ABA shipping document or other correspondence referencing the order number.

Digital Products

Digital products (on-demand content, e-books, PDFs, etc.) are non-refundable. If you are having trouble with a digital product, see our Product Downloads page for system and software requirements. If you are still unable to access your digital purchase, contact the ABA Service Center.

Sales Tax

Orders shipped to AZ, CA, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, NJ, PA, TX, VA, WA, WI or WV will have all applicable state and local sales tax added to your total order, and to related shipping and handling charges where appropriate.

Sales tax will be charged for orders that are shipped to an address in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Tax includes applicable shipping costs in CA, FL, IL, GA, IA, MI, MN, MS, NJ, PA, TX, WA, Washington DC, WI, and WV.

  • Arizona: Between 5.6% and 11.2% - depending on location
  • California: Between 7.25% and 10.5% - depending on location
  • Florida: Between 6% and 8% - depending on location
  • Georgia: Between 4% and 9% - depending on location
  • Illinois: 10.25%
  • Indiana: 7%
  • Iowa: Between 6% and 8% - depending on location
  • Maryland: 6%
  • Massachusetts: 6.25%
  • Michigan: 6%
  • Minnesota: Between 6.875% and 8.375% - depending on location
  • Mississippi: Between 7% and 8% - depending on location
  • New Jersey: 6.625%
  • Pennsylvania: Between 6% and 8% - depending on location
  • Texas: Between 6.25% and 8.25% - depending on location
  • Virginia: 4.3% and 7% - depending on location
  • Washington: Between 6.5% and 10.5% - depending on location
  • Washington D.C.: 6%
  • Wisconsin: Between 5% and 5.6% - depending on location
  • West Virginia: Between 6% and 7% - depending on location

Tax-Exempt Organizations

If your organization is tax-exempt, the ABA must have your Tax-Exempt Entity Exemption Certificate or Exempt Organization Exempt Purchase Certificate on file.

If an order has already been placed via phone or on ShopABA and taxes were charged, request a tax exemption by sending your ABA ID number, order number and tax-exempt certificates by fax to (312) 988-5568, or by mail:

Discounts and Special Offers

ABA Member Discounts

ABA members are entitled to discounts on many products and events. These discounts will be applied automatically during checkout. You must be logged in to Americanbar.org to have membership-based discounted pricing applied to your order.

Redeeming a Discount Code

Some marketing promotions include a promo code that entitles you to a discount on specific products or events. If you have received such a code, you may redeem it during checkout. Your discount will show on the payment screen during checkout. Discount codes are applicable only to the product(s) or event(s) in the initial offer and may be subject to other restrictions. Discount codes may not be combined with other offers. Limit one promo code per transaction. Review the offer details.

Cancelling an Event Registration

Live events may be subject to individual cancellation terms and restrictions.

Examples of ABA live events include:

  • In-person conferences or institutes
  • Meetings held by the ABA or its entities
  • Networking events and outings
  • Live webinars and teleconferences

Review the event materials for cancellation policies specific to your event.
