Since its first edition in 2009, the mission of CPLD has been to synthesize consumer protection law into a coherent and objective summary of court decisions, enforcement actions, agency regulations, and guidelines, in an important and evolving area of law.
This second edition covers significant consumer protection developments since the last hardbound publication, including the addition of a separate chapter on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which was established with the passage of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, as well as significant discussions about the impact of new technologies on consumer protection law, the expansion in state consumer protection law enforcement, and evergrowing importance of international legal precedent.
