In an increasingly dangerous world, the U.S. armed forces have a risky job. They shouldn't have to be concerned about being ripped off back on the Homefront. This accessible book is designed to help those in a position of advising our military to understand and repair the damage caused by these immoral and illegal scams.

The men and women in uniform who risk their lives in defense of our nation are routinely targeted by certain types of sales, scams and abusive commercial practices with appalling frequency. This book looks at these scams so that they can be recognized and prevented. It offers resources and tips to help those that have been victimized find justice. Important topics covered in this text include:
· Loans: high interest personal, and payday
· Life insurance sales
· Landlord/tenant issues
· Buying and financing overpriced computers and electronics
· Internet, telephone and scams
· Identity theft
· Education rip-offs
· Debt-collection abuses
· Auto purchase, repossession, and repair fraud
The author, Michael S. Archer, is a retired Major in the US Marine Corps. He is currently the Director of Legal Assistance for Marine Corps Installations East, where he supervises other military legal assistance attorneys. He served for 20 years in the USMC as a judge advocate. Perhaps Major Archer puts it best, when he asks, "As a nation, do we really want the fighter pilot in the ready room receiving calls from debt collectors? Don't we want that Marine with his finger on the trigger fully focused on the job at hand and not on whether some creditor in the United States is repossessing the only car his wife and child use to get around? Do we want troops to be dealing with identity-theft issues while training for war? Or buying cars that can't even make it back to the base?"
