    Program Overview:
Under the Trump Administration, EPA has proposed to rescind the landmark Clean Power Plan, which would have regulated greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants on a system-wide basis under the Clean Air Act.  The proposed rescission reflects a dramatic reversal of course with regard to EPA’s interpretation of its legal authority under the Act, with significant implications for the future of greenhouse gas regulation.  In addition, EPA has issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, soliciting input on whether to replace the Clean Power Plan with a narrower rule, and if so, what that regulation should look like.
This webinar will bring together leading experts from industry and the environmental community, including several who were intensively involved in the development of the Clean Power Plan, to discuss these proposals and the path forward for EPA and the power sector.  The webinar will cover EPA’s change of course on its legal interpretation, its changed approach to analyzing costs and benefits of the regulation (including the social cost of carbon), legal and policy issues raised by a potential rule to replace the Clean Power Plan, and the short- and long-term implications for the power sector and the Clean Air Act.
