Equine Law: Liability, Contracts, and Risk Management for Lawyers [CC]
Disaster Recovery and Urban Resilience
Recorded on September 29, 2017
Sponsored by:
The Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources and the Section's 2017 Fall Conference Planning Committee.
Program Overview:
The devastation that was wrought by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma demonstrates the need for cities to enhance their efforts to build resilience. Cities are already seeing more flooding from higher sea-levels and more extreme storm events and these impacts will only increase as the climate changes. In a variety of environmental stresses, including extreme weather events, cities have begun to incorporate emergency response and prevention strategies as well as cost-saving environmentally friendly initiatives that positively affect a municipality’s bottom line. In this webinar, panelists will discuss urban innovations in building community resilience and the effect of federal laws and policy of urban resilience efforts, including a discussion of the effect of recent Executive Orders, federal disaster recovery programs, and the National Flood Insurance Program. This webinar will offer a preview of topics that will be discussed in more detail at the ABA Section on Environment, Energy and Resources Fall Conference on October 19th in Baltimore, Maryland.
