Diversity Fellows Program

The Diversity Fellows Program is designed to promote ethnic diversity within the Section, recruit members of color, and provide leadership development opportunities within the Section for members of color. The Section’s Diversity Committee and Membership Board identifies and nominates four lawyers of color who will be appointed by the Chair-Elect to funded fellowship positions within the Section, effective during the following bar year. Upon completion of successful active participation in the first scholarship year, these participants will then be appointed to regularly funded positions within the Section the following bar year, giving consideration to the Section’s existing needs and the participants’ preferences based upon the first-year participation. Most of the Section’s former Diversity Fellows have remained very active in the Section. A few hold positions on Council, while others are Chairs of Committees. These former Fellows also serve as mentors to the new Fellows. Each new Fellow is assigned a mentor to help guide him or her through the Section and answers any questions. Applications are being accepted through April 30, 2005. Visit the Section website at for more information.
