CHICAGO, December 10, 2024 — The American Bar Association stands united with the world community today on this Human Rights Day in reaffirming our commitment to the values enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The 2024 theme of “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now” highlights the importance of human rights in our everyday lives. The fundamental principles of dignity, equality, and justice for all people, regardless of their race, nationality, gender, or beliefs, must be protected by us all.
As lawyers and advocates for justice, the ABA has long been at the forefront of promoting and defending human rights across the globe. We champion upholding individual rights and fundamental freedoms for all, including ensuring fair trials, due process and the eradication of discrimination through the rule of law. The ABA fights for equity and the rights of all, giving voice to the voiceless and serving the underserved.
As legal professionals, we must translate the message of Human Rights Day into daily action, championing justice and human dignity and persisting in our efforts to protect the rights of all people.
