WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2024 — David M. Cattler, director of the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, will speak at an American Bar Association Standing Committee on Law and National Security luncheon from noon-1:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C.
Cattler leads the agency, which is the government’s premier provider of integrated security services. DCSA blends industrial security, counterintelligence support, personnel vetting and security training to advance and preserve America’s strategic technological edge. The agency is responsible for conducting 95% of federal background investigations and oversees the security of 12,000 classified contractor facilities and manages key counterintelligence and insider threat programs.

Before joining DCSA, Cattler served as assistant secretary general for intelligence and security at NATO. He helped form and coordinate national policy as deputy assistant to the president for regional affairs within the National Security Council. He was a senior advisor to the director of national intelligence in multiple roles, including chair of the National Intelligence Management Council, national intelligence manager for the Near East and principal deputy national intelligence officer for military issues. He supported combat operations while directing the Defense Intelligence Agency’s counterterrorism efforts and serving as the Joint Staff’s deputy director for intelligence.
