A number of lawyers, members and organizations will be honored for exemplary service to the profession at the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago July 31-Aug. 6.

Host of awards on tap for Annual Meeting in Chicago
Various entities will present awards to the following:
Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division
- The Dorsey Award, which honors an outstanding public defender or legal aid lawyer, will go to Amrutha Jindal, executive director of Lone Star Defenders.
- The Hodson Award recognizes an exceptional government or public sector law office and will be presented to New York City’s Asylum Application Help Center.
- The Nelson Award recognizes superior, sustained contributions to the ABA by an individual public lawyer. It will be given to Sylloris Lampkin, attorney adviser in the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.
- The Honorable William D. Missouri Civility Award, which honors judges and legal professionals who exhibit exceptional qualities of civility, courtesy and professionalism toward colleagues, litigants and the public, will go to the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism and Judge Peter M. Reyes Jr. of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
- The Justice and Rule of Law Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations that make a national impact on the justice system and preserving the rule of law in the categories of judicial independence, justice system reform or public awareness of the justice system, will be presented to the National Judicial College.
- The John H. Pickering Award of Achievement, which recognizes the brilliant legal work, advocacy of pro bono service, dedication to the cause of equal justice for all and promotion of the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in the law, will go to Pauline Weaver, past president of the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations and California Women Lawyers.
- The Outstanding Young Military Lawyer Award, which recognizes the legal contributions of one young judge advocate from each uniformed service, will be presented to Army Capt. Hannah Miller, Marine Corps Maj. Annie Barry Bruton, Navy Lt. Amy Zajac, Air Force Capt. Anna Sturges and Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Erin Slycord.
- The On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers Award provides recognition for young lawyer members who exemplify a broad range of high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership and legal and community service. The 2024 honorees are listed here.
