WASHINGTON, March 14, 2024 — The American Bar Association Section of State and Local Government Law will host the forum, “Challenges Facing Democracy in 2024,” at the Howard University School of Law in the Damon J. Keith Moot Courtroom at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19.
The ABA’s inaugural Democracy Fellow Stephen Cobb will moderate the program and a panel of experts will discuss key issues that affect democracy in 2024. Panelists include Brian Schwalb, D.C. attorney general; Kareem Crayton, senior director for voting and representation at the Brennan Center where he manages the organization’s efforts to implement pro-voter reforms, combat suppression and intimidation and push back against redistricting abuses; Sarah Hunt, president of the Joseph Rainey Center for Public Policy, a leading conservative voice, where she leads public policy research and leadership development programs; and Tanya House, executive vice president, Government Affairs and Public Policy at the Hip Hop Caucus, a national nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that uses the power of hip-hop to advance civil and human rights.
