Regulation of commercial space activity, carbon emissions and airline mergers top ABA program

WASHINGTON, Feb. 26, 2024 — The American Bar Association Forum on Air and Space Law’s 2024 Washington Update Conference will be held Friday, March 8, at the Waldorf Astoria Washington, D.C.

Katie Thomson, deputy administrator at the Federal Aviation Administration, will give the morning keynote address at 8:30 a.m. Judith S. Kaleta, deputy general counsel at the U.S. Department of Transportation, will deliver the International Women’s Day luncheon keynote at 12:15 p.m. in the Grand A Ballroom.

The conference will feature leading air and space law experts who will discuss the recent regulation of commercial space activity, legislative priorities of the Biden administration, challenges with international air service agreements, the enforcement of international bilateral air service agreements, passenger rights, the goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, risks affecting U.S. commercial space stations and new airline merger guidelines and litigation.

Air and space legal issues and policy perspectives will be explored by aviation experts from air and space law firms, private companies and representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation, U.S. Department of Justice and other leaders in the air and space industry.
