American Bar Association to present virtual tax symposium on Sept. 8

WASHINGTON, Sept. 1, 2022 — The American Bar Association Section of Taxation will host a daylong  Virtual 2022 Fall Tax Exempt Organizations Symposium on Sept 8. The meeting will address topics of general interest in exempt organization law and offer sessions covering the latest developments in specific areas, such as private foundations and international philanthropy.

When: Thursday, Sept. 8  

Where: Online

Four plenary sessions — featuring representatives from the IRS and Treasury Department, academics and other tax experts — also will be offered. The sessions are:

  • “News from the IRS, Treasury and the Hill”
  • “The Tao of DAO: Charity and Decentralized Autonomous Organizations”
  • “Sex, Drugs & Insurrection: Hot Topics in Illegality”
  • “Charities and the First Amendment: Questioning Lobbying Limitations and the Campaign Intervention Prohibition”
