WASHINGTON, Dec. 8, 2021 — The American Bar Association applauds the work of the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States. The comprehensive report it has issued presents important context on the complex and critical issues surrounding the structure of the Court.
The Commission was tasked by President Joe Biden to provide an account of the current debate over the “role and operation of the Supreme Court in our constitutional system,” and to analyze arguments for and against Supreme Court reform. While the committee was not asked to make specific recommendations, it thoroughly addressed the history of pertinent issues and examined the potential impacts of proposals that would change the Court.
