SEC Chair Gary Gensler to speak at ABA Derivatives and Futures Law conference

WASHINGTON, July 9, 2021 — Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will be the keynote speaker for the American Bar Association Business Law Section’s Virtual Derivatives and Futures Law Committee Mid-Year Program to be held Wednesday, July 21 online. The conference will also feature speakers from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Gensler, sworn in as the new SEC chairman in April, will deliver his keynote address from 10-10:30 a.m. EDT. Prior to joining the SEC, he had served as chairman of the CFTC and had been a partner at Goldman Sachs.

In addition to two CLE programs that will feature commissioners from the CFTC, the agenda also includes a “Fireside Chat on Crypto and Fintech” from 10:30-11 a.m. EDT with speakers Jason Somensatto, acting director, LabCFTC; and Robert Bench, assistant vice president payment strategies, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
