For the last five years, women have comprised the majority of students pursuing Juris Doctor degrees in the United States.

- Laurel G. Bellows (2012-2013)

- Hilarie Bass (2017-2018)
- Judy Perry Martinez (2019-2020)
- Patricia Lee Refo (2020-2021)
Deborah Enix-Ross of New York will become the 11th woman to lead the ABA in August 2022.
