ABA Health Law Section to hold virtual 5K fundraiser for cancer legal advocacy

CHICAGO, Nov. 11, 2020 — The ABA Health Law Section’s Cancer Legal Advocacy Interest Group will hold an Inaugural Cancer Legal Advocacy Virtual 5K Fun Run/Walk on Nov. 21-29.

The event, which is open to the public, invites runners and walkers to come together to support families facing cancer and raise awareness about the legal ramifications associated with this life-threatening illness.

Participants donate $25 (which is tax deductible) to the ABA’s Cancer Legal Advocacy Interest Group. Then, between Nov. 21 and 29, they can run or walk the 5K (approximately 3.1 miles) distance and record their achievement. The 5K can be done at once or split up over the event dates. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences and pictures throughout the week on social media using the hashtag #ABACANCER5K.

Funds raised will help the Cancer Legal Advocacy Interest Group fund educational programs designed to help people with cancer, lawyers, social workers, medical professionals and others affected by the illness find the resources needed to address complex legal issues associated with this debilitating disease.

More details are available here. Register for the walk here.
