Release of ABA 2020 Survey of Civic Literacy

ABA President Judy Perry Martinez and Judge Mary Margaret McKeown of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit discuss results from the ABA 2020 Survey of Civic Literacy on Law Day, May 1.

The nationwide survey covers civics knowledge and the U.S. public’s views on a range of issues, including the 19th Amendment, the Electoral College and constitutional rights. The results also include significant findings on changing public attitudes toward voting in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The poll was conducted March 9-13 and April 7-11 by DAPA Research on behalf of the ABA.
