Midyear Meeting 2020: Delegates support voting preregistration for youth

Delegates adopt Resolution 108, which urges governmental bodies to enact legislation that would allow eligible youth between 16 and 18 to preregister to vote and urges governments to automatically add preregistered teens to the voter rolls when they reach the legal voting age.

The new policy, adopted Feb. 17 at the Midyear Meeting in Austin, Texas, permits the ABA to participate in public education programs, legislative advocacy and urges schools to create robust civic education programs to promote literacy and further understanding of the rule of law.
