Annual Meeting 2018: Attorney Fred Gray reflects on illustrious career

Veteran civil rights attorney Fred Gray, whose legal career began during the civil rights movement, speaks with Ohio litigator Carl Smallwood, past president of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, on Aug. 4 during the National Council of Bar Presidents Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Gray has been at the forefront of changing the social fabric of America regarding desegregation, integration, constitutional law, racial discrimination in voting, housing, education, jury service, farm subsidies, medicine and ethics, and generally in improving the national judicial system. He served as the president of the National Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar.
