Former chief judge of New York’s highest court: Pro bono is core value of our profession

Jonathan Lippman, former chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, delivers impassioned keynote address during the 2017 Pro Bono Publico Awards luncheon at the ABA Annual Meeting in New York City Aug. 12.  Pro bono, he said, is not only an ethical and moral obligation, it’s what being a lawyer is all about.

The Pro Bono Publico Awards are presented by the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service.
