ABA delegates support less restrictive alternatives to guardianship

The House of Delegates adopts Resolution 113, which urges legislatures to amend their guardianship statutes to ensure that supported decision-making be identified and fully considered as a less restrictive alternative.

Robert (Bob) T. Gonzales, chair of the ABA Commission on Disability Rights, introduces the resolution, which ensures that guardianship is a “last resort.”
