New ABA book: Learn to build a law firm website with WordPress software

By John Glynn

CHICAGO, Jan. 10, 2014 — Law firms without websites are at a great disadvantage compared with their competition. A website can be an effective marketing tool for law firms — without investing much time or money into building one. “WordPress in One Hour for Lawyers: How to Create a Website for Your Law Firm,” a new American Bar Association book, will explain how to create a law firm website quickly and easily with WordPress software.

In just one hour, readers will learn to:

·         Choose a Web host.

·         Select and set up a domain name.

·         Install and customize WordPress software.

·         Create a look for their website.

·         Add content, functionality and images to their website.

·         Improve their website with search engine optimization techniques.

·         Understand the ethics issues of legal websites.

“WordPress in One Hour for Lawyers” is written by Jennifer Ellis, an attorney with the Philadelphia-area law firm of Lowenthal & Abrams PC. Her practice deals with issues involving social media and other online activities as related to personal injury. She also manages her firm’s online presence. In addition, Ellis is a law practice management consultant. She focuses her consulting on creating and improving the online presence of law firms, advising attorneys on technology and aiding businesses in their efforts to reach the legal vertical market.
