The growing list of states to severely curtail abortion rights to any time after a “fetal heartbeat” can be detected is making national headlines. Reproductive rights advocates argue these “heartbeat bills” are unconstitutional and amount to a near total-ban on the procedure. Court watchers are anxiously waiting to see if the Supreme Court will hear an abortion-related case, while political pundits are using these bills as hot topics the closer we draw to the 2020 election. This panel will provide a legal and political perspective on this hot topic, and address what these bills mean in terms of Roe v. Wade. Perspectives include those of a former SDNY District Court judge, Georgia State Senator, as well as a leading Reproductive Rights attorney.

  • Jen Jordan, Georgia State Senator
