During summer, many of us look forward to escaping the office before dark, enjoying warm weather, and, hopefully, planning a week or two away from the daily grind. For some, the office pace is a little slower—fewer new cases come in, partners go on vacation, and judges take time off. Yet for many maritime lawyers, summer often means more business because, unfortunately, more people engage in marine activities, which means more losses. The largest number of recreational boating accidents nationwide take place during the months of June, July, and August, according to the 2015 US Coast Guard Recreational Boating Statistics.
