So much of our modern lives are governed and supported by space activities, from telecommunications to GPS-enabled services, but much of the current excitement for space exploration is driven by anticipation for new types of private space activities. An already large and still growing industry in the twenty-first century, private space flight actually traces its roots back to the beginning of the space race. What many people consider today as being private space flight is the culmination of the United States private sector’s space development in the twentieth century, along with the next generation of privately funded space companies. So, it should be no surprise that legal consideration of private space flight dates back nearly as far.
