Lawyers must stay current with technological advances, not only to comply with ethical obligations and protect client security, but also to stay competitive and meet client demands. Add the fact that partners and clients expect associates to provide constant and immediate attention to emails, docket updates, and case developments, the two obligations create a recipe for stress. The good news is that, beyond the more traditional (and expensive) online legal databases such as LexisNexis and Westlaw, a number of online resources are available for lawyers seeking to gain an edge and relieve some of the pressures that accompany the practice of law.
