Cybersecurity 101: The Importance of Preemption

It is no secret that large corporations are under constant threat of cyber attacks. They house personal and corporate data worth millions of dollars that hackers can sell and use themselves for nefarious ends, including for theft of identity and financial assets. However, cyber-crime is not just a problem for the Goliaths of industry. Cyber attacks are on the rise for small businesses, as well. Symantec, a leading provider of cybersecurity products, recently released a study, estimating that approximately 43 percent of small businesses were at risk for a cyber attack last year, which represents an increase of 9 percent from 2014, and an increase of 18 percent from 2011.
