I’m a driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) defense lawyer, so I get some strange looks when I tell people what type of law I practice. Some are immediately uncomfortable, thinking only about some stereotypical slimy defense lawyer or the latest sensationalized DUII arrest from the evening news. Others ask questions about my job out of genuine (self)interest: How do I pass a field sobriety test? Do I have to take a breath test? If I’m stopped by police, what should I do? Or, How can I avoid being arrested? Everyone seems to have an opinion, and many want “hypothetical” advice.
