Self-doubt is common among lawyers for many reasons and most often indicates Impostor Syndrome, a pervasive internalized feeling that despite significant achievement, you are not skilled enough for the work you are doing or aspire to do. Although most lawyers have experienced this phenomenon in at least one aspect of their professional lives, they do not talk about it, as it involves a fear of being exposed to others as a fraud. As a result, many lawyers suffer silently from chronic anxiety, isolation, and disengagement and continually pass up or miss out on opportunities that would propel their careers forward.

Trainer, coach, and instructor of “Owning Your Value: 10 tactics to bust your self-doubt, step into your true value, and be your best self,” Neha Sampat will empower you with a firm understanding of Impostor Syndrome, why it hits lawyers particularly hard, some common signs and symptoms of it, and ways to address it that are evidence-based, building true confidence instead of relying on a “fake it ‘til you make it” approach.
