Fitzann (Fitz) Reid is a Senior Counsel in the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. She conducts confidential investigations into potential violations of the federal securities laws. Fitz is Co-Chair of the SEC’s LGBT employee resource group and recently led an effort to implement an agency wide gender inclusive training. Prior to joining the SEC, she worked in-house at Wells Fargo Advisors where she managed the implementation of federal regulations and worked in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri for Chief Judge Kathy A. Surratt-States.
As a first generation Jamaican-American who identifies as a gender nonconforming woman, she aims to increase the visibility of underrepresented lawyers working in finance. In 2019 she received the National LGBT Bar Association’s 40 Under 40 Award, given each year to a select number of attorneys who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession and demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBTQ+ equality. She is also Co-Chair of the National LGBT Bar Association’s Finance Law Institute. Fitz graduated from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.
