Sonny S. Haynes
Sonny is a Litigation Partner at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP in the firm’s Winston-Salem, North Carolina office. She has a broad range of litigation experience from complaint to verdict and on appeal. Her practice includes defense of ERISA benefit and fiduciary liability, life, and disability claims, as well as defending insurance companies in actions alleging fraud, bad faith, and unfair and deceptive trade practices. She is well versed in product liability and mass tort litigation, including asbestos litigation.
In addition, Sonny is frequently called upon to litigate the most difficult and complex civil rights and governmental tort liability cases. Sonny is passionate about enhancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. She was a 2018 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow and is an active participant in the alumni program. In addition to serving on the boards of nonprofit organizations such as The Enrichment Center, she is a City Council-appointed member of the Winston-Salem Human Relations Commission where she works with her fellow Commissioners to facilitate and recommend programs for the elimination of discrimination.
She is a 2010 graduate of North Carolina Central University School of Law, summa cum laude, and a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
