Barrett is a litigator. He tackles a wide variety of legal issues and is a trusted and thoughtful advocate in cases involving breach of contract, trade secret theft, intellectual property claims, securities fraud, false advertising, civil RICO, and constitutional law. He represents clients in forums ranging from the U.S. Supreme Court to the Superior Court of Polk County, Iowa, and has seen success before both judges and juries.
Barrett is deeply committed to pro bono work, including regularly volunteering at legal clinics for transgender people and homeless veterans, representing a Jewish religious group seeking to build a student center, and authoring amicus briefs in favor of expanding legal protections for LGBTQ people and asylum seekers. Barrett serves on his firm’s pro bono committee, Lambda Legal’s local fundraising committee, and as an alumni advisor to the University of Iowa’s Political Science Department. Barrett graduated from Iowa and Yale Law School.
