Ryan V. Cox

Ryan is a Senior Attorney at the Texas Civil Rights Project where his practice focuses on high-impact voting rights litigation in state and federal courts. Consistent with TCRP’s mission, Ryan works to address systemic issues preventing access to the polls to make sure that every eligible voter is able to cast a ballot that counts.

Before TCRP, Ryan served as a Briefing Attorney at the Texas Thirteenth Court of Appeals and as a law clerk at the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.  Ryan is also an elected director for the Texas Young Lawyers Association where he has worked on local affiliate programs and on projects addressing fair housing and the cycle of eviction.  He previously served on the board for the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association for many years, including as its President from 2017-18, a year in which SAYLA’s projects swept the ABA-YLD national awards for Service to the Bar, Service to the Public and Comprehensive Programming, and also received the W. Frank Newton Award from the State Bar of Texas for “outstanding efforts to increase legal services to the poor.”

Ryan also serves on the boards for a variety of other community and bar-related organizations, is the author of numerous influential publications and presentations, and maintains a robust pro bono practice.
