Emily Reina Dindial is a lawyer working to dismantle the prison industrial complex and advance true community safety. She is a senior policy counsel at the ACLU where she works on decriminalization with a focus on predatory fines and fees in the criminal legal system. Prior to joining the ACLU, Emily was a policy analyst at the Innocence Project where she worked to address contributing causes of wrongful convictions such as prosecutor misconduct and unvalidated forensics. As a member of the Jails Action Coalition, she advocated for expanded access to visitation and voting in NYC jails. She served as an ABA advisor for the Uniform Law Commission Fines and Fees Committee and on the drafting team for the federal omnibus BREATHE Act proposal.
