The Welcome Reception was the kickoff for the TIPS Spouses and Significant Others Committee (SASO), led by Lars Kroner. SASO coordinated several outings and activities for TIPS friends and families, including yoga and a family lighthouse hike. We look forward to SASO’s important work in expanding the involvement of our TIPS spouses and significant others.
This meeting also served as the launch of the inaugural Insurance In-House Counsel and Professionals Summit. Summit Co-Chairs Akira Heshiki and Floyd Holloway spearheaded programming designed for in-house counsel by in-house members to tackle common issues faced by in-house counsel. Programming for the Summit included critical and timely topics such as nuclear verdicts, AI, and cybersecurity. This dynamic program featured presentations by our Section sponsors, Thomson Reuters and the American Arbitration Association, along with TIPS committee leaders from our appellate, cybersecurity, insurance regulation, excess surplus, insurance coverage, staff counsel, and corporate counsel committees.
At the Opening Plenary Session at the Fall Meeting, TIPS Chair Chris Nolan honored Akira Heshiki and Floyd Holloway for their years of TIPS service. Akira received the Insurance In-House Summit Champion recognition, and Floyd received the James K. Carroll Leadership Award, recognizing their outstanding leadership provided to TIPS. Congratulations to our Summit Co-Chairs for their awards!
In addition to the Summit, many Task Forces, Standing committees, and General Committees gathered for business meetings. General Committee Chairs and Chairs-Elect participated in orientation and training to ensure the continued success of our general committee. The TIPS Council also met twice during the Fall Meeting to advance the work of the Section.
Speed Networking was brought to the members as part of TIPS Counsel Connections. The In-House Counsel and Professionals Summit and the Business Generation Task Force spearheaded this sell-out event.
TIPS recognized the hard work and accomplishments of several General Committees. The following awards were presented to the general committees for their 2023–2024 contributions to the Section:

TIPS continued our tradition of making a difference in the hosting community by participating in a tandem beach clean-up and recycling center processing event organized by the LIPS Public Service Committee. We thank all the members, families, and friends who helped make the LIPS Public Service Project successful.
Our meeting concluded with a beachfront reception and a Luau dinner. Special thanks go to TIPS Chair Chris Nolan, our wonderful sponsors, and our excellent TIPS Staff led by Theresa Livingston. We hope to see everyone at the upcoming ABA Midyear Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, January 31–February 1, 2025, and the premier TIPS Section Conference May 7–10, 2025, in Washington, DC, featuring the TIPS Gala at the National Museum of African History and Culture.
