We meet this goal in a number of ways. We regularly present webinars and online CLE programs, including three programs last year, as well as Insider TIPS podcasts. We host a biannual, in-person Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Conference. In 2024, the Cyber Committee’s conference presented panel discussions on topics such as emerging cybersecurity trends, the cyber insurance application process and underwriting, AI security and privacy concerns, and data tracking technologies. Recently, we have presented panel discussions on cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI topics at the ABA TIPS Section Conferences.
The Cyber Committee publishes a quarterly newsletter and contributes to the annual Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Law Journal survey on updates in cybersecurity and data privacy. We published five articles focusing on cybersecurity and AI in the TortSource Spring 2024 issue. In 2022, the committee published a book titled A Practical Guide to Cyber Insurance for Businesses, which is currently available for purchase on the ABA website. The Cyber Committee is currently editing a book on dispute resolution of cybersecurity and privacy claims, which is planned for publication later this year.
Finally, we have monthly Zoom committee meetings, with guest speakers discussing a wide variety of cybersecurity and data privacy hot topics. All TIPS members are invited to our monthly committee meetings scheduled on the third Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. (CT). The Cyber Committee has eight subcommittees focusing on programs, membership, diversity, publications, technology, and public policy. The Cyber Committee also fosters law student membership through panel discussions with law students and active engagement of law student members.
The Cyber Committee welcomes all attorneys interested in cybersecurity and data privacy. You do not need to practice in these areas to be active in the committee.
