Meeting Round Up: Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler in New Orleans!
By Andy Cao
But, the appeal of New Orleans isn’t in its stately hotel conference rooms. The historical, cultural, and commercial center of the Gulf South, New Orleans is already well known for its hospitality, dining, and festivities. The ABA Midyear Meeting coincided with preliminary Mardi Gras parades, with processions from February 3 through 5, so attendees had the chance to be present for the city’s biggest celebration, including the opportunity to visit Mardi Gras World, a museum all about Mardi Gras, where you can get up close to floats, masks, and costumes being made.
This walkable city also offered TIPS members much more beyond beads, Bourbon Street, and brass bands. TIPS members could also visit the National WWII Museum on Magazine Street, an extraordinary way to immerse oneself in the World War II experience. or the Whitney Plantation—just west of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport—the only former plantation site in Louisiana focusing exclusively on the experiences of enslaved people.
