Meeting Recap: TIPS & YLD Section Conference in New York

By Briana M. Montminy

The annual TIPS & YLD Section Conference was held in New York City on May 3-6, 2023, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel which is located in Times Square. May was a great time to visit NYC and a great time to get a head start on those annual CLE hours that we all need. The Section Conference allowed participants to earn up to 14 hours of CLE credits and learn about several hot topics in the legal field right now: Data Security, Roe v Wade and Privacy Impacts of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, and Cannabis in the Workplace. Other CLE topics included multi-district litigation/class actions, corporate representative depositions, technology and advertising, a panel of judges and trial attorneys, making yourself indispensable to the trial team, coverage issues in catastrophic fire losses, opening and closing arguments, coverage issues under professional liability policies, international arbitration, and meeting client’s expectations promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

After the CLE each day, there were opportunitie to network with colleagues. Wednesday night was the Welcome Reception, followed by Committee Networking Dinners. On Thursday evening, attendees gathered for another reception and dinner. And then on Friday afternoon, the Women Trial Lawyer’s Networking Luncheon was held, followed that evening by several other general committees hosting their committee dinner.
