The site of the TIPS Fall Leadership Meeting, October 11–15, 2017, was Key Biscayne, Florida. The picture-perfect fall weather in south Florida made Key Biscayne an excellent choice for the Section’s autumn conference. The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne was the host hotel for TIPS’s events, bordering miles of white sandy beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel offered first-rate amenities, including great restaurants and beautiful views of the bay. TIPS members and guests were able to enjoy the beach and water sports throughout the meeting. A few of us made time to visit the Cliff Drysdale Tennis Garden on the hotel property to play a little tennis.

Meeting Round-Up: Fall Meeting in Key Biscayne, Florida
By Scott R. Wolf
Our meeting began on Thursday with a TIPS networking reception and well-supported TIPS public service project at Brownsville Middle School in Miami, “A Day in the Life of an Attorney,” presented by members of the Section’s Diversity in the Profession, Law in Public Service, and Staff Counsel Committees. In the afternoon, TIPS conducted an excellent plenary session for all attendees, “TIPS Leaders of Tomorrow,” where a panel from the Young Lawyers Division engaged in an in-depth discussion about new lawyers’ perspectives, ideas, and expectations about bar association involvement. The welcome reception that followed the plenary session was held on the lawn of the hotel property, offering an opportunity to network while enjoying a cool ocean breeze.
On Friday, TIPS members focused on a full slate of committee meetings and training for membership vice-chairs of the Section’s general committees. In the afternoon, TIPS sponsored “Yoga on the Beach,” where attendees participated in a yoga session, inspired by a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Saturday’s schedule was filled with committee meetings amidst warm and sunny weather, followed by the TIPS reception and dinner featuring a gourmet buffet on the Ritz-Carlton’s courtyard and garden lawn. The event was well attended, offering members an opportunity to visit and network while enjoying delicious food and lively dancing.
The Fall Leadership Meeting was a resounding success. Our thanks go to TIPS Chair Holly M. Polglase, the Meetings Committee members, the wonderful TIPS staff, and other TIPS members who planned and led this memorable meeting. As members and guests concluded their sunny visit to Key Biscayne, the Section looked forward to traveling to the opposite corner of the continent for the ABA Midyear Meeting in Vancouver, February 1–3.
