    Summer 2023 Update on the Latest Programs and Events in Your Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section

    ABA Annual Meeting

    TIPS officers met at the ABA Annual Meeting in Denver, with officers and some delegates in person and most Council members by phone. The ceremonial passing of the gavel signaled the transfer of the leadership of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section from outgoing Chair Gary L. Gassman to Loren D. Podwill. The event took place at the TIPS annual business meeting, held at the ABA Annual Meeting in Denver on Friday, August 4, when officers and Council for the 2023–2024 bar year were officially elected.

    We kicked off the new bar year with a very well attended Fidelity and Surety Law Fall Conference, October 5–6 at the Revere Hotel in Boston, where the newly published book The Financial Institution Bond and Commercial Crime Policy: Principles and Annotations was featured. A big thank you to the authors of what looks to be the practitioner’s go-to resource for a comprehensive treatment of any fidelity law topic: Michael Keeley, Toni Scott Reed, Robert M. Flowers, Megan M. Manogue, and J. Caralisa Connell.
